Le Boeing 314 Pacific Clipper n'est pas un hydravion tout à fait comme les autres. Le 7 décembre 1941 il volait vers la Nouvelle Zélande lorsque son commandant apprit l'attaque de Pearl Harbor - Ne pouvant plus retourner aux Etats Unis par le Pacifique, il décida de rentrer en volant vers l'Ouest, de l'autre côté de la terre ! Le Pacific Clipper arriva le 6 janvier 1942 à New York et devint ainsi le premier avion de ligne à faire le tour du monde ! |
The Boeing 314 pacific Clipper is a legendary seaplane. On december the 7, 1941, he was flying to New zealand when his Commander was informed about the attack on Pearl Harbor - As it was impossible to return to United States through the Pacific, he decided to return flying westward, the other side of the earth - the Pacific Clipper arrived at New York on January the 6th, 1942, and became the first airliner to fly around the world ! |

6T survole l'île de Gorée, au large de Dakar.
Cet avion est aux couleurs de Vichy (bandes rouges et
jaunes). Existe
