Siegfried Freytag is not the best known German ace despite his 102 kills. However, he had a strange destiny : after the war, he got back home, but there was no home anymore. His whole family had disappeared during the war. He decided to enter the French "Legion Etrangère" and became a simple infantryman who fought with the French in Indochina. You can see him on this painting holding a letter in his hands.
